The Lipsmark Co. owns palcohol and on its website it claims owner Mark Phillips invented it: “Mark’s an active guy…hiking, biking, camping, kayaking, etc.,” the website says. “After hours of an activity, he sometimes wanted to relax and enjoy a refreshing adult beverage. But those activities, and others, don’t lend themselves to lugging heavy bottles of wine, beer or spirits. The only liquid he wanted to carry was water. So he thought ‘wouldn’t it be great to have alcohol in powder form so all we do is add water?'”
The U.S. Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau has approved “palcohol,” alcohol that comes in a powdered form. It’s expected to hit store shelves this fall.
You just add water to palcohol and presto! you’ve got vodka or a margarita, or one of seven different palcohol products due to be in liquor stores this autumn. It’s designed to be sprinkled on food, too, if you should feel a need for such a thing. Getting drunk while eating a ham and cheese sandwich?
